"Free sushi anyone?" said the opening presenter at last Thursday's Pitch Night. V-Delights took the stage. In the corner of the room was a kitted out chef with a table of delicious sushi and other eats—and it was all vegan! The newest restaurant in town catering to vegan-only products also has a backend store where they are starting to sell vegan groceries.
With about $100K invested so far, this niche market idea won the hearts and stomachs of the Pitch Night community. Meat eaters were skeptical until they stepped out on the edge and gave it a shot. "Be healthy, lose weight, and eat right to live long and prosper" or something like that.
Keep track of Albert Muparuri, his VDelights team, and his restaurant as they add a new flair to Zimbabwean cuisine.
So it's hard to top free food, right? Well, Antoni Kamugisha from "no name" company (mostly because it's still in prototype phase), made jaws hit the floor as he explains his invention: a generator which runs, not on diesel, not on petrol, but on water.
The Cylco Hydraulic Generator: it's patented, proven, a little on the pricey side, but it works and has unbelievable potential to scale.
Last but not least. A team of girls from the local Technovation Challenge stood up to play and pitch. Her name is Moslyn Muchena from Techno Chicks. The new app based company does online orders for food and other products and has a slick payment ability that works. Options for delivery and pick-up are included in this convenient little piece. Launch date is set to be this week (early May).
