Simon Sinek says that we’re motivated by why we do things more than what we do.
With that in mind, creating a culture where your team is motivated is important and critical to the success of a team and a company.
Here are a few ways that you can raise motivation within your organization:
1. Write your purpose statement
What do you want to be known for?
2. Create daily and tangible purpose
How do your daily tasks and to-dos connect with the long-term vision. Make this really concrete and clear for your team and have them internalize this and think through how their day-to-day decisions fit within the overarching purpose. The hope here is that you expand each individual’s context which they work in.
3. Reinforce with great stories
Allow opportunities for your team to tell each other stories about something they (or a team member) did that supports the organization’s purpose.
